Horizon: Chapter One

Chapter One
Rosekit brushed out her pelt as foxes were scratching the sides of the highden.
“When will they go away?” Shadowkit squeaked.
“Can’t they go bother some other clan?” Sharpkit complained.
Jayfeather was sitting beside Cinderheart’s nest.
“Are you feeling okay?” He asked.
“I’m fine but, what about my kits?” She meowed. Her worried gaze set on her kits.
“They will be alright as long as the foxes keep out.” Jayfeather’s gaze turned to the clearing. Rosekit stretched her forest green eyes open and looked around the room. Mudkit flopped onto the ground. He searched around the den. Lionblaze paused next to Jayfeather.
“Mudkit and Shadowkit look like our parents. Just that Shadowkit is a little darker.” Lionblaze observed. Jayfeather felt a stab of sadness. His family had totally fell apart. Crowfeather forgave them, They forgave Leafpool, Hollyleaf had died. Jayfeather shook away the dead thoughts and began inspecting the kits. Mudkit was on his feet but couldn’t help to wobble, Shadowkit was already bounding around the den. He looked inside Cinderheart’s nest, and Rosekit was curled up in a ball sleeping. She looked nothing like the rest of her family, from what everyone had told him. The eyes sort of matched because of, Squirrelflight, Sandstorm, and Firestar, the bushy tail was from Squirrelflight, the white parts were from Leafpool, but what about the fur? Long list. He needed to find out. Bramblestar jumped up the den.
“The foxes are gone.” He reported. Jayfeather hopped out of the cave and began to inspect cats. Well, is there just her in the prophecy? Or are there more? Jayfeather sniffed, and picked up a feather off the ground. He took it to Bramblestar. ‘
’What do you make of this? You saw a willow branch swaying in the breeze a moon before your daughter was born, it could be a sign from StarClan.’’ Jayfeather mewed. Bramblestar took the feather and sniffed it. ‘
“This feather is damp, and it smells a bit like water, and a little kittypet scent. A RiverClan kittypet.” Bramblestar noted.

A silver tabby she-cat raced through the RiverClan territory, a light snow falling all around her. She carried a tiny kit. The first snows of the Lake were here, but the she-cat didn’t stop to enjoy the beauty of it. She went to the edge of the RiverClan camp. She knew she’d meet the cat she needed to meet here. Soon, a blue-gray she-cat was looking at the border. The silver cat lifted her head up. The blue-gray cat saw the silver.
“Feathertail?” the blue-gray cat asked. Feathertail smiled up at the blue-gray.
“Mistystar, you need to take this kit into RiverClan. Are there any queens who can take her?”
Mistystar thought.
“There’s Shimmerpelt. She has four kits that haven’t opened their eyes yet.”
“Perfect. And, Mistystar,” Mistystar looked at Feathertail. Feathertail smiled at the RiverClan Leader.
“Good Luck.”
Mistystar smiled sadly, and gave a small nod to Feathertail. Mistystar took the little kit, and watched as Feathertail danced upwards into the sky, and disappeared among the many sparkling stars in the night horizon.
A pure white owl soared overhead and a feather drifted through the air onto the kit’s head, snow softly landing on the two cats pelts. Feathertail’s last words echoed in Mistystar’s mind: Good Luck.
The kit was so peaceful; just sleeping there, not knowing what was going on. Mistystar picked the kit up. She went to the Nursery, where a black tom and a silver she-cat, and four little kits were sleeping.
“Reedwhisker! Shimmerpelt! You must wake up!” Mistystar hissed quietly. Reedwhisker and Shimmerpelt slowly opened their eyes. Their eyes focused on Mistystar.
“I need you to raise this kit.” Mistystar mewed. Shimmerpelt instantly took the kit, and laid the kit down next to her other kits. Mistystar watched as Reedwhisker’s eyes grew misty, and she smiled at her son.
“What will this kit’s name be, Shimmerpelt?” Reedwhisker asked. Shimmerpelt looked at her new kit, and saw the owl’s feather on her head.
“Owlkit.”
